For the Last 30 Years
Over the last few months I am one of six writers who have been working with Women and Theatre on their project For the Past 30 Years. This project celebrates the 30th anniversary of the theatre company and looks back at significant areas of work the company have been involved in; Community, Education, Health, Business, Theatre and Probation. I have been working on the probation strand and had 2 wonderful days with Janice Connolly out and about round the West Midlands (getting a little bit lost) interviewing women who have worked in the probation industry for significant periods of their careers. The women we interviewed were very inspirational and offered incredible insight to how the service has changed over the last 30 years, culminating in a privatisation, that outside of the service, no one seems to be aware of. The work will be staged at Birmingham REP 9th – 11th October. Booking information can be found here
It’s a real pleasure to be part of this significant landmark for a company that for 30 years has given voices to those not always heard.
